Lord, have some mercy…
As I sit here on Sunday night, at 9 o’clock in the evening,
I am horrified to look at the thermometer on the wall outside and see that it reads
96 degrees.
9 o’clock. AT NIGHT.
So to say that I’m having some trouble coming up with menu ideas for this week would be an understatement.
Particularly [...]

This week’s post was written by Glynnis Witwer, help-meet to her husband of 25 years, mother of 5 beautiful children, and editor for Proverbs 31 Ministries.  She blogs at Welcome Home.
When my third child was born, my oldest was three. And they were all active boys!
My husband and I were outnumbered and my life was [...]

Gratituesday!

Inquiring minds want to know…
exactly how do boys know where to find mud?

I realize that it must be some kind of ingrained sensor…
Patrick likes the “crunchy” part…
But, really?
Lord, You have blessed us with our boys,
You have guided their upbringing through us.
May we rejoice in each experience they bring to us,
whether it is mud, tears, or [...]

Another fantastic week in the garden! We’re consistently eating at least SOMETHING from it each day, and I’m really quite pleased with the amounts we’re getting – heaven help me when those tomatoes finally ripen!
I found a turban squash hidden under some leaves, and it’s shocking how big it’s gotten just in the [...]

Father’s Day

Today was Father’s Day.
So we celebrated in style.

Jammie style.

Daddy got a rock we painted and colored on,
(cause, well, HE ROCKS! )
and a wallet, because his was falling apart!

And we then did our traditional reading of “Daddy Book”
… because we’re boys, and we have to buy the biggest book ever for our daddy.
Happy [...]

A Fine Afternoon

One of our closest friends is a gymnast – she also teaches gymnastics at every level, and began teaching Jake when he was barely able to walk.
Unfortunately, she moved several hours away from us last year, and Jake has missed her (and the classes ) dreadfully.
So whenever he comes across something that reminds [...]

I left the boys to their own devices the other day…
(hoping, of course, that they would stay out of trouble – mostly -)
And to my amazement joy,
they did.
I came out to them working together to move a pile of boards.
Heavy boards, ingeniously with a rope wrapped around them to lift.
And it was working!
Jake was so [...]

Gratituesday!

This week, I’m grateful for vacations.
With the economy the way it’s been
(not that we had ANY money in the stock market!)
people have been cutting back on all sorts of “extras”
including vacations.
We obviously can’t take big huge Disney vacations
(although, really, it’s pretty overrated anyway)
but we’re able to sneak away for weekends here and there.
We were able [...]

This morning’s post was written by Stacy McDonald. She is the wife of Pastor James McDonald of Providence Church and Family Reformation Ministries.
